The design process for the light chapel was initiated through the development of a device studying projection and optics, in particular our perception of light patterns. Light is filtered through a layer of corrugated plastic strips, and again through an iridescent cellophane screen. It is then projected onto folded paper, which further manipulates the pattern. An adjustable stand allows the box to tilt, accommodating for time of day and direction of the sun.
